Tips to help transition to Brown’s Best Pet Food
There are a few ways to introduce your pup to raw. Always allow the food to sit out for 15 to 20 minutes to let it get to room temperature. You can also pop it under the broiler on foil or an oven safe dish for a couple of minutes.
Microwaving is NOT recommended. You don’t want to kill off beneficial enzymes and bacteria (yes, some bacteria strains are healthy). The microwave also alters the food on a molecular level of the food making it less healthy.
To step up the flavor even more, you can drizzle a little olive oil, coconut oil or butter over their food, as well as stir in low or no salt bone broth. You can even add warm water to heighten the aroma of the meat.
Just go “cold turkey” and switch. Most dogs dive right in and love Brown’s Best!
Some pups are so accustomed to eating dead food, they may be hesitant or seem like they’re not interested.
Use an encouraging, positive tone and tell them just how good it is for them will go a long way! Try giving them a taste by hand. If they still seem “stand-offish” just leave them alone. Most dogs will give it a go in their own time. This may continue for a few feedings, but in no time, they’ll be hook!
You can gradually transition between the old food and Brown’s Best by introducing a little Brown’s Best Raw into your pup’s bowl and gradually increasing the ratio of raw over several days. You can pour a little olive oil or coconut oil over their food, as well as low or no salt bone broth.
Usually once a dog starts on Brown’s Best they love it and are very happy with their new healthy diet. You and your dog will appreciate the improvements in your pup’s shiny coat, clear skin, fresher breath and general well-being, not to mention fewer vet bills over the years.
